Gantavya: A Technical Fest
Shri Ramswaroop Memorial Group of Professional Colleges

Gantavya is a festival for the tech buffs. It is an opportunity for the students to showcase their interest and knowledge in the field of technology. It is a two-three days juncture in which, students from not only the college itself but also from outside, participate in the various events organized by GROBOTS: the technical club of the college. It is a function for the emerging researchers to put forward their research papers as the college organizes international conferences. The electromagnetism of the fest are the robotics events organized by the GROBOTS.

Grobots

Grobots is the technical club of SRMGPC. It is the body which is entrusted with the responsibility to organize the robotics/technical events of the college. It contains groups of students as the Hods, the Co-ordinators and the Assistant coordinators for the efficient working of the club. The club not only focuses on inculcating the Organizational qualities but also works upon instilling the virtues like team work, professional ethics and provides a platform to the students to exchange their innovative ideas and helps them to bring the ideas into reality. Prior to the Gantavya, GROBOTS organises Robotics classes for the freshers. During Gantavya the Club organizes thrilling Robotics Events for the students to showcase their practical knowledge.

Here is the list of Events Organized by GROBOTS: -

  • AUTONOMOUS
  • SEMI AUTONOMOUS
  • ROBO SOCCER
  • ROBO RACE
  • MINI WAR
  • MEGA WAR

AUTONOMOUS

This event has a great magnetism for the programmers. It involves a great deal of programming and logic. An autonomous bot is the one which is fed with the programs and it works according to the logics and commands given to it (without any human interaction). This event is to test the programming of the participants and to make them acquainted with the problems like light following, line following, heat detection and much more. The event ultimately aims at enhancing your thinking, problem solving and observing abilities.

SEMI-AUTONOMOUS

This event is a mixture of autonomous and manual bot. The event not only requires the participants to showcase their programming skill but also demands them to have a manual control over the bot. The bot constructed for this event is checked for its ability to sense the obstructions (like heat detection, color detection etc.) and its manual mechanism.

ROBO-SOCCER

Soccer has always been an enthusiastic game amongst youngsters. Here we are with an even more exciting version of soccer: Robo-soccer. In this, there are two teams with two manual bots each. The two manual bots act as the striker and the goalkeeper respectively and are constructed according to their roles. This event may get wild as the teams can attack with their weapons on the opponent team. The event aims at checking the controlling, defending, attacking, and maneuvering skills of the participants.

ROBO-RACE

It is one of the most exciting events of Gantavya. The arena of this event is as long as the list of its participants. The arena contains various hurdles for the manual bot to test the participants for the controlling, strategy and the design of the bot. In this the bot is engaged in a breathtaking race between participants. The bot has to overcome the hurdles like speed breakers, pyramids, water tanks, curved paths etc. This event attracts a great deal of audience and participants.

MINI-WAR

This event is quite an aggressive one. This involves the manual bots of weight around 7 kg. It has three opponent teams revolting against each other. The excitement is at par when the mini bots use their thundering weapons to defend themselves from the opponent team. This event lures a great deal of spectators towards itself.

MEGA-WAR

This event is the central attraction of the Gantavya. In this, the bots of around 50 kg and more fight against each other. The event tests the participants for their strategy of attack, bot design and control. It is truly a treat to watch the two heavy bots trying to knock each other down. The spark that originates when two weapons clashes, causes the audiences to be awestruck and spellbound. This event persuades the maximum audience and is truly a big fat show.
